Understanding Tuberculosis Care Pathways and Health-Seeking Behaviour in Durg, Chhattisgarh

DevInsights conducted a study to understand the healthcare-seeking pathways of tuberculosis (TB) patients in Durg, Chhattisgarh. The study aimed to map patient journeys from the onset of symptoms to treatment initiation, identify key care-seeking touchpoints, and assess delays experienced at different stages of diagnosis and treatment.

The study adopted a qualitative research approach, involving detailed interactions with 100 TB patients following the screening of nearly 250 individuals. The research explored patient understanding of symptoms, perceptions of disease severity, healthcare provider preferences, and factors contributing to delays in seeking and accessing treatment.

DevInsights provided end-to-end research support, including study design, patient screening, qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting. The findings generated evidence on patient pathways, barriers to timely care, and health system gaps, providing actionable recommendations to strengthen TB case detection, improve treatment initiation, and enhance patient-centred tuberculosis care.
