Client: BAIF Institute of Sustainable Livelihood and Development
Geography: Dharampur, Gujarat
Duration: December 2024 – February 2025
DevInsights conducted a midline assessment of the Agroforestry (Wadi) Project implemented by BAIF Institute of Sustainable Livelihood and Development in Dharampur, Gujarat. The project promotes an integrated Agro-Horti-Forestry (Wadi) model through soil and water conservation, plantation of horticulture and forestry species, and cultivation of intercrops to improve the livelihoods of 2,000 tribal farming households across 25 villages.
The study adopted a pre-post evaluation design using a mixed-method approach. The quantitative component included structured interviews with 429 beneficiary farmers, while the qualitative component comprised 24 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) with farmers, project staff, community leaders, and other stakeholders to understand programme implementation and outcomes.
DevInsights provided end-to-end evaluation support, including study design, data collection, analysis, documentation of beneficiary success stories, and reporting. The assessment generated evidence on livelihood improvement, agricultural productivity, and adoption of sustainable farming practices, offering actionable recommendations to strengthen programme implementation and future scale.
