DevInsights undertook a study to assess agricultural labour practices and key social development indicators across 41 villages in Sri Ganganagar and Bikaner districts of Rajasthan. The study focused on understanding child and adolescentl abour in agriculture, along with migration trends, wage practices, and accessto government entitlements among agriculture-dependent households.

The study adopted a mixed-method research approach, integrating quantitative household surveys with qualitative enquiries. The quantitative component covered approximately 450–500 respondents using digital data collection tools, while the qualitative component included in-depth interviews, key informant interviews, and group discussions with adolescents, farmers, households, Panchayat representatives, and other stakeholders.

DevInsights provided end-to-end research support, including study design, tool development, field implementation, data quality assurance, and analysis. The study generated evidence on labour practices, socio-economic vulnerabilities, and institutional gaps, offering actionable recommendations to strengthen child protection systems, promote fair labour practices, and enhance livelihood resilience in rural agricultural contexts.
