Impact Assessment of Sustainable Playground Initiative for Enhancing Child Development and Environmental Awareness across Multiple States (Phase 2)

DevInsights conducted an impact assessment of the Upcycled Playground for School Children project, implemented by Anthill Creations Foundation with support from NPCI. The initiative focuses on creating safe, inclusive, and sustainable play spaces using upcycled materials, promoting physical, cognitive, and social development among children while fostering environmental awareness and community ownership.
The study adopted a retrospective cross-sectional designguided by OECD-DAC evaluation criteria, integrating quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative component included surveys with 180 students across 18 schools, while qualitative insights were gathered throughin-depth interviews and focus group discussions with key stakeholders acrossmultiple states.
DevInsights provided end-to-end evaluation support, including tool development, data collection, analysis, and reporting. The assessment generated evidence on programme outcomes, effectiveness, and sustainability, offering actionable recommendations to strengthen implementation and support scale-up of sustainable, play-based learning models.
